Web Projects

Michael Samyn is a hypermedia designer. He was trained a traditional graphic designer for print media but currently only designs for hypermedia, mostly for the world wide web but also for CD Rom.

As an artist, with Group Z, Belgium, he produced numerous analog art objects that nobody wanted. In 1995 he radically stopped that production in favor of digital media ("They take up less space."). Art and design merge in Samyn's work. He considers himself a 'bad designer' and an 'ex-artist'. His work is research. He feels that hypermedia have a huge potential as immersive media (even more than book or film) and is continuously exploring their manipulative power. Within the framework of La Biennale de Montréal, we have selected the work Love, produced in 1995. The work was reviewed in the fifth edition of the CIAC's Electronic Art Magazine.
